Stolen: An Aboriginal tragedy

8 October 2001 -What do you do when you meet your mother for the first time in 26 years? Shake her hand? Give her a hug? Will she feel like your mother? What does having a mother feel like?

If there is one feeling a viewer will take away from this play it’s an understanding of the generations of indigenous Australians who were forcibly taken from the arms of their families.

Stolen is an extraordinary and moving show in London for another triumphant season. A play that will move you and make you boil with rage.

It reflects the experiences of Aboriginal children brutalised by Australia’s policy of enforced adoption which ran from 1910 to the mid 1970’s. This is an absorbing production by Fifth Amendment.
