Aboriginal remains to return home
31 May 2006 - (BBC UK) - The remains of six Aborigines held in Glasgow's
museums collection will be returned to Australia.
The move follows a request from the Australian Government to repatriate
indigenous Australian remains.
Councillors agreed on Wednesday to return the remains which were donated
to Glasgow museums but never displayed.
The human remains will be returned to the Torres Strait Islands. The request
was made in November 2005 by the Office of Indigenous Policy Coordination.
