Dennis Nona exhibits work in Paris

5 May 2006 - Eminent Torres Strait artist Dennis Nona is conducting an exhibition at the Australian Embassy in Paris until June 8. The exhibition was opened by the Australian Ambassador to France Penelope Wensley in early May.

The exhibition also was shown at Cooee Aboriginal Art in Sydney from March 20 to April 21, and will also show at the Rebecca Hossack Gallery London from July 14 to September 2.

More than 400 attended the opening in Paris, with the exhibition attracting considerable interest from both the public and media.

Born in 1973 on Badu Island, Dennis has a Diploma of Art form Cairns TAFE, a Diploma of Visual Arts in Printmaking from the Institution of Arts, Australian National University, Canberra and is completing a Masters in Printmaking at Griffith University in Brisbane.

His work has been presented in many international and local exhibitions and is regularly hung in the prestigious annual Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Award and was included in the Islands in the Sun exhibition at the National Gallery of Australia.
